Shared colors, personal favorites
A folder color belongs to the folder and everyone sees it; Favorites belong to each user. These checks record that a color survives a reload, that two accounts keep separate Favorites, and that colors and favorites come back after Plathix is switched off and on and after Trash. All seven checks passed. Related rows of the regression suite are listed below them.
The claim we are testing
“Give folders a color so they stand out. Star the few you open all the time and keep them above the tree. Both are included in Free.”
Why this is worth testing
A color that disappears after a reload, or Favorites that leak into a teammate’s list, would make both features useless on a shared site. So the checks reload the page, switch accounts, switch the plugin off and on, and send a colored favorite through Trash.
What we check
- Set a folder color in the browser color picker, reload the page, change the color again.
- Add 15 folders to Favorites one after another and compare the count in the Favorites block.
- Remove favorites one by one and as a group; check that the folders stay where they are.
- Log in as a second user and compare the two Favorites lists.
- Add a subfolder to Favorites with its parent expanded and with it collapsed.
- Deactivate and reactivate Plathix and compare the folder colors.
- Move a colored favorite folder to Trash and restore it.

Earlier regression checks
Folder colors and Favorites are also part of the Free regression suite that runs before a release. These are its related checks with the latest result, from the runs of 18 Aug and 9 Sep 2026 on two live sites with Plathix Free 1.0.0.
| What we checked | Result |
|---|---|
| Every item of the folder menu works, including Color and Add to favorites | Passed |
| A favorite folder opens from the Favorites block without expanding the tree | Passed |
| System folders have no Color or Favorites menu | Passed |
| The Folder colors and Favorite folders rows in the Free vs PRO table match the plugin | Passed |
| Fav. folders count on the Plathix Home page | Scheduled — folders in Trash were still counted; fixed on 9 Oct 2026, a re-check on the current build is scheduled |
How we tested
Latest runs: the Free regression runs of 18 Aug and 9 Sep 2026 on two live WordPress sites with Plathix Free 1.0.0 and WordPress 7.1, and the Trash test of 12 Oct 2026 (Free build b9d2149b) for the Trash row. The two-account check ran on 9 Sep; on 18 Aug the second account was not set up yet.
Known limits
- There is no “no color” option yet. A color can be changed, not cleared.
- Favorites stay in the order they were added; they cannot be dragged into a new order.
- In Free, administrators set folder colors. Editors and authors with upload access keep their own Favorites.
Not covered yet
- Colors and the Favorites block inside the media picker of Gutenberg, Elementor and Divi.
- Folder colors carried from one site to another in an exported folder structure.
- PRO role permissions applied to colors and Favorites.
- Folder trees with more than 200 folders.
