Questions and answers

HOMEGeneral
From the Home page →HOME-01 Does Plathix create real folders on the server? Can I see them in FTP?
No, Plathix folders are virtual. The folder tree lives in your WordPress database and every file stays where WordPress put it, so FTP shows the usual uploads folders. That is why sorting never changes a file's address. #
HOME-02 Will links, image URLs or SEO change when I sort files into folders?
No. Putting a file into a folder only records which folder it belongs to. The file keeps its name and address, so links in posts and image URLs stay as they were, and search engines see the same files. #
HOME-03 What happens to my existing Media Library when I install Plathix?
Nothing moves. Your files appear in Uncategorized, and the Unsorted card on Plathix Home counts how many still need a folder. Sort them at your own pace, or start with one of nine ready folder sets. #
HOME-04 What happens to my folders if I deactivate or delete Plathix?
Deactivating keeps everything: folders, file assignments and settings stay in the database, the Media Library returns to the normal WordPress view, and reactivating brings it all back. Deleting the plugin removes the Plathix folders and settings for good, so export your folder tree first if you may need it again. Your media files, attachments and posts are never touched. #
HOME-05 Can I switch from FileBird, Real Media Library, HappyFiles or another folder plugin?
Yes. Plathix Tools imports folders and the files in them from FileBird, HappyFiles, Real Media Library, WP Media Folder and Wicked Folders. The old plugin's data stays as it was, so you can compare before you remove it. #
HOME-06 What is free, and are there any limits?
Plathix Free has no folder or file limits, no nesting limit and no trial period, and you can use it on as many sites as you like. PRO adds folders for posts, pages and other content types, per-role folder access, galleries and bulk ZIP download. #
HOME-07 Does it work with my page builder or WooCommerce?
Plathix adds its folder tree to the standard WordPress media window, so your folders are there in the block editor, Elementor, Divi and WooCommerce product galleries. We test each of them and publish the results on the Compatibility page. #
HOME-08 Can I replace a file and keep its link?
Yes. Replace file swaps the file but keeps the attachment: the same ID, title, alt text and folder, so pages that use it show the new version, and Plathix adds a version tag to image addresses so browsers load the new copy. The file address stays the same when the new file has the same type and lands in the same upload folder, for example when the original was uploaded this month. #
HOME-09 My uploads folder is huge. Can Plathix help?
Plathix Home shows how much disk space your uploads take, which file types they are and how many files arrive each month. If uploads are only a small part of the disk, the space is going elsewhere, such as backups or logs. Folders show what belongs to which project, so you can remove what you no longer need. Plathix does not compress images; an image optimizer does that. #
HOME-10 Does Plathix find unused or duplicate images?
It does not scan for them, because such scans often miss images used by themes and page builders. Plathix makes a manual clean-up safe instead: Uncategorized shows files nobody has sorted, folders show what belongs where, and anything you move to Trash waits 1 to 180 days before it is gone. A clear tree also keeps people from uploading the same file twice. #
HOME-11 Can I control who manages the folders?
In Plathix Free, administrators manage the folder tree. Editors and authors see the folders, upload into them and move files into them. PRO adds per-role and per-user folder access. #
HOME-12 Is it safe to allow SVG uploads?
Plathix cleans every SVG on upload and removes scripts, event attributes and links to outside resources. You choose which roles may upload SVG (administrators and editors by default) or block SVG completely, and strict safe mode refuses risky files from editors you do not fully trust. #
MFMedia Folders
From the Media Folders page →MF-01 Are Media Folders included in Plathix Free?
Yes. You can organize your WordPress Media Library with Plathix Free. #
MF-02 Can I organize files that are already on my site?
Yes. You can assign existing WordPress media to Plathix folders without uploading the files again. #
MF-03 Can I create folders inside folders?
Yes. Plathix supports nested folders. #
MF-04 Can I move several files at once?
Yes. Select multiple media items and move them together. #
MF-05 Will moving a file change its URL?
No. Moving an attachment between Plathix folders changes its folder assignment. The file URL stays the same. #
MF-06 Does Plathix move files into physical server folders?
No. Plathix uses virtual folders. Your files stay in the normal WordPress uploads structure. #
MF-07 What happens if I deactivate Plathix?
Your WordPress media remains in the Media Library. Deactivating Plathix does not delete your attachments. #
MF-08 Can I import folders from another plugin?

OVOverview
From the Overview page →OV-01 Is the Home overview included in Plathix Free?

OV-02 Does Home use data from my WordPress site?
Yes. Uploads, file types, unsorted media, folder data, and disk use reflect the current site. #
OV-03 Why do some Home cards disappear?
Some cards only show while a setup item still needs attention. When that task is finished, the card disappears. #
CTFContent Folders (PRO)
From the Content Folders page →CTF-01 Is Content Folders in Plathix Free?
No. Free organizes the Media Library. Content Folders is part of Plathix PRO and needs an active PRO licence. #
CTF-02 Do folders change URLs, categories, parent pages, or status?
No. Content Folders is an admin organization layer. The public structure stays separate. #
CTF-03 Do folders hide a product, page, or event from visitors?
No. A folder does not change publication or visibility. Use WordPress or the relevant plugin for that. #
CTF-04 Can I use folders with a very large amount of content?
Folders are meant to reduce how much of the admin list you have to scan at once. We do not claim that they make the WordPress database itself faster. #
CTF-05 Which content types work?
Posts and Pages are included. Many custom post types work on standard WordPress content lists. Plugin-specific pages and the verification matrix show current coverage. #
CTF-06 Do custom admin screens work?
Not in the current version. Plathix works on standard WordPress content lists unless a dedicated integration adds support. #
CTF-07 Do Content Folders work with Polylang and WPML?
Yes. Both multilingual workflows have been checked. #
CTF-08 Can one item be in two folders?
No. One item sits in one Plathix folder at a time. #
CTF-09 Are Media, Pages, Products, and Events in one shared tree?
No. Each content type has its own tree. You can repeat the same folder names and structure, but the trees are separate. #
CTF-10 What happens if I deactivate PRO?
The Content Folders UI disappears, but the folder data stays. When PRO becomes active again, the structure returns. #
CTF-11 What happens if I remove the PRO folder data?
The folder structure and assignments are removed. Your posts, pages, products, events, and other content stay in WordPress. #
CTF-12 Can I use Ready Folder Sets with Pages or Products?
Not yet. Ready Folder Sets for content types are in development. #
CTF-13 Does WordPress WXR export carry Content Folders to another site?
This is not confirmed yet. Do not rely on WXR for Content Folders migration until the workflow is tested. #
CTWContent Folders for WooCommerce (PRO)
From the Content Folders for WooCommerce page →CTW-01 Do folders change my shop, categories or product URLs?
No. The folder is an admin-only structure. #
CTW-02 Can shoppers see the folders?
No. #
CTW-03 Can a product be in a category and a Plathix folder?
Yes. The category is for the shop. The folder is for the team. #
CTW-04 Does a folder hide a product from the shop?
No. Product visibility still belongs to WooCommerce. #
CTW-05 Do coupons get folders too?
Yes. Coupons have a separate folder tree. #
CTW-06 Are Product and Media folders the same tree?
No. They are separate. You can use similar names in both if that helps the team. #
CTW-07 Does this work with Polylang and WPML?
Yes. Both have been tested with Content Folders. #
CTW-08 Can I organize product images too?
Yes. Media Library folders are available in Plathix Free. #
CTW-09 Can I show a folder of images with a shortcode?
Yes. The shortcode gallery is part of the Free media workflow. #
CTW-10 Are Ready Folder Sets available for Products?
Not yet. Ready Folder Sets for content types are in development. #

From the Ready Folder Sets page →RFS-01 Are Ready Folder Sets included in Plathix Free?
Yes. The full preset feature is available in Free. #
RFS-02 Do Ready Folder Sets organize my existing files automatically?

RFS-03 Do Ready Folder Sets work with posts, pages, or products?
Not yet. They currently work with the Media Library. More Plathix folder types are planned. #
RFS-04 Can I apply more than one Ready Folder Set?
Yes. Each new set adds folders to the current tree. Existing folders are not replaced. #
RFS-05 Can I undo a preset?
No one-click undo. Remove folders manually or use Start from scratch to clear the tree. #
FFFind fast
From the Find fast page →FF-01 Does Find Fast search files itself?
No. Plathix narrows the Media Library to the folder you opened. WordPress then handles the file search inside that folder. #
FF-02 What can WordPress search inside the folder?
Filename, title, caption, and description. Alt text, custom fields, and media tags are not added to search by Plathix. #
FF-03 Can I search for a folder by part of its name?
Yes. Folder search matches any part of the name and ignores letter case. #
FF-04 Does folder search work inside the media picker?
Not currently. The picker includes the folder tree, counts, and WordPress file search and filters. Folder-name search and sorting stay in the main Media Library. #
FF-05 Does a folder include files from its subfolders?
No. Opening a folder shows files assigned directly to that folder. Open a child folder to search its files. #
FF-06 Does Plathix show where an image is used?
No. Find Fast is about finding media in the library, not tracing every place where a file appears on the site. #
FF-07 Does organizing files change their URLs?
No. Plathix folders are virtual. Organizing a file in the tree does not move the physical upload on disk. #
FF-08 Is Find Fast included in Free?
Yes. The core Find Fast tools on this page are included in Plathix Free. #
CFColors and Favorites
From the Colors and Favorites page →CF-01 Are folder colors and Favorites included in Free?
Yes. Both features are included in Plathix Free. #
CF-02 Will everyone see the same folder color?
Yes. Color is shared for the folder. Favorites are the part that stays personal. #
CF-03 Will my Favorites change someone else's?
No. Each user keeps their own Favorites list. #
CF-04 Can editors change folder colors?
In Free, administrators set folder colors. Editors and authors with upload access can keep their own Favorites. PRO can change access by role. #
CF-05 Can I clear a folder color?
Not from the current interface. You can change it to another color, but there is no "no color" option yet. #
CF-06 Do subfolders inherit the parent color?
No. Each folder keeps its own color. #
CF-07 Can I drag Favorites into a different order?
No. They stay in the order you added them. #
CF-08 Does adding a favorite move the folder?
No. The folder stays in the same place. Favorites gives you another way to open it. #
CF-09 What happens if I send a colored favorite to Trash?
After Restore, its color and favorite state come back. We checked this in a live Trash test. #
CF-10 Do colors and Favorites import from another folder plugin?
No. Supported migrations bring folder structure and file assignments. Colors and Favorites start fresh in Plathix. #
TRTrash
From the Trash page →TR-01 Does deleting a folder delete its media?
Not necessarily. With “Delete files with folder” off, the folder goes to Trash and the media stays in the Media Library without a folder. Turn the setting on when the files should go to WordPress Trash along with the folder. #
TR-02 If I restore a folder, do its files always come back with it?
Only if the files went to Trash with the folder. If they stayed in the Media Library, restoring the folder doesn’t put them back in. #
TR-03 Can I restore a folder with subfolders?
Yes. A branch moved to Trash together comes back as the same folder tree. #
TR-04 What happens if I remove only a parent folder?
The subfolders move up one level. Restoring the parent later doesn’t put them back inside it. #
TR-05 Can I trash and restore individual media files?
Yes. Plathix moves selected files to Trash and restores them to their folder. #
TR-06 Does WordPress “Delete permanently” use Plathix Trash?
No. The native permanent-delete action removes the file immediately. #
RMReplace Media
From the Replace Media page →RM-01 Is Replace Media included in Plathix Free?
Yes. The replacement workflow is included in Free. PRO adds WP-CLI replacement and Activity history for successful replacements. #
RM-02 Does the attachment ID change?
No. Replace Media keeps the existing WordPress attachment ID. #
RM-03 Does the Plathix folder change?
No. The attachment stays in its current Plathix folder. #
RM-04 Does the file URL always stay the same?
No. It stayed the same in our same-format, same-month tests. A different file type changes the extension, and replacing an older upload currently moves the file into the current month folder. #
RM-05 Does Plathix rewrite direct file URLs in posts?
No. Direct URLs already stored in page content are not rewritten. #
RM-06 Can I undo a replacement?
No. There is no one-click Undo or version history. #
SVGSVG controls
From the SVG controls page →SVG-01 Is SVG support included in Plathix Free?
Yes. SVG upload, sanitization, the site policy, allowed roles, and strict mode are all in Free. #
SVG-02 Do I need a separate SVG plugin?
Not for the normal Plathix SVG workflow. If another plugin already manages SVG, choose “Do not manage SVG” for normal uploads. #
SVG-03 Who can upload SVG by default?
Administrator and Editor. You can change the allowed-role list. WordPress upload permissions still apply. #
SVG-04 Does Plathix reject every SVG that contains a script?
No. In normal mode, blocked markup such as scripts and event handlers is removed. The cleaned SVG is kept when the remaining file is valid. #
SVG-05 Can I turn SVG off completely?
Yes. Choose “Block SVG uploads site-wide” or leave no roles allowed. #
SVG-06 Why did my exported logo change after upload?
The SVG may contain an embedded raster image, external reference, animation, or style block that sanitization removes or strict mode rejects. A clean vector export is the safest option. #
SVG-07 Do animated SVG files work?
Not as a general promise. Some SMIL animation is removed. CSS animation may remain in normal mode, while strict mode rejects files with a <style> block. #
SVG-08 What happens to SVG files already on the site if I switch to Block?
They stay in the Media Library. The new policy affects new uploads; it does not rescan or delete old files. #
SVG-09 Does Replace Media use the same SVG checks?
Yes. Replacing a file with SVG applies the Plathix SVG checks, including sanitization, role access, strict mode, and the size limit. #
SETSettings
From the Settings page →SET-01 Does Plathix change WordPress permissions?
No. Plathix access works together with WordPress permissions. It does not give a role new WordPress capabilities. #
SET-02 Do Media, Posts, and Pages share the same folder tree?
No. Each content type has its own folder tree. The same folder name in two areas does not make them the same folder. #
SET-03 What if my default upload folder is deleted?
Uploads go to the root while the folder is unavailable. Restore the folder and the saved setting works again. #
SET-04 Can I lower the Administrator role?
The setting can be changed, but lowering Administrator below Full can remove access to Plathix Settings. #
SET-05 Can I remove all Plathix data?
Yes, Danger Zone removes folders and settings. Media files and content stay in WordPress. #
SET-06 How long do deleted items stay in Trash?
As long as you set in Trash retention: from one day to 180. The period covers folders and, if enabled, the files moved with them. #
SISystem Info
From the System Info page →SI-01 Is System Info included in Free?
Yes. The System Info screen and its health checks are in Plathix Free. #
SI-02 Who can open it?
Administrators with Full Plathix access. Editors and authors do not have access to this screen. #
SI-03 Does Copy for support send anything to Plathix?
No. It copies the text to your clipboard. You decide where to paste it. #
SI-04 Is the copied report anonymous?
No. It includes the site URL, a server temp path, the database table prefix, and the active plugin list. Read it before sending. #
SI-05 Does it replace WordPress Site Health?
No. Site Health is broader. System Info is a shorter Plathix-focused snapshot for support. #
SI-06 Will support ever still need access?
Possibly. Some problems need a staging site or admin access to reproduce. System Info gives the setup first. #
MIGMigration
From the Migration page →MIG-01 Will Plathix move my files?
No. The physical files stay in the WordPress uploads directory. #
MIG-02 Will my file URLs change?
No. Migration does not change file paths or URLs. #
MIG-03 Does the old plugin need to be active?
No. The import can work after the plugin is disabled, as long as its folder information still exists in WordPress. #
MIG-04 Will I need to sort all my media again?
Usually not. Plathix imports the folder tree and the folder placement stored for the files. There are limits when the source places one file in several folders. #
MIG-05 What if I already organized files in Plathix?
The import can replace the current Plathix folder placement for files it imports. Back up before migrating an important library. #
MIG-06 What if the same folder already exists in Plathix?
Plathix normally reuses a matching folder at the same level instead of creating a duplicate. #
MIG-07 Can I import the same source again later?
Not from the normal Tools interface after the import has completed. #
MIG-08 Can I undo a completed import?
There is no one-click migration undo. #
MIG-09 What happens if an unfinished import is left for 72 hours?
Plathix can remove the folders created by that unfinished import during its cleanup task. The media files remain in WordPress. #
MIG-10 Is migration included in Free?
Yes. Migration from the supported plugins is included in Plathix Free. #
Nothing matches. Try another word, or ask support.
