Content Folders for WooCommerce
Folders for your products and coupons, behind the scenes.
The product list grows faster than you can keep it organized: new arrivals, seasonal lines, supplier ranges, and discontinued products you can't delete yet. WooCommerce gives you categories, tags, and brands - but they are built for shoppers.
Plathix PRO adds a folder tree right beside your Products and Coupons lists in wp-admin. Open a folder on the left, and your usual WooCommerce table shows only that group.
Group 1,000+ products by supplier, season, task, or archive. Nothing changes in your live shop: URLs, categories, prices, stock levels, and product visibility stay unchanged.
Start with the lists you already use
Products
One Products list can contain today’s range, next season, old lines, products waiting for photos, and a batch you imported this morning. Folders let the team separate those jobs without adding another category to the storefront.
Coupons
Black Friday, partner codes, influencer codes, expired campaigns — they all end up in the same Coupons list. Coupons get their own folder tree, separate from Products.
Work with 61 products, not 1,284
A supplier sends an updated price list. Instead of digging through all 1,284 products, open Supplier A and work with those 61.
Search and the usual WooCommerce filters still work after you open a folder.
Categories are for shoppers. Folders are for your team.
Categories, tags, and brands help shoppers browse the store. Your team needs different groups: supplier, season, photos needed, discontinued products, or the latest import.
Categories and tags
Great for the shop. Awkward for internal labels such as Photos needed or Copy to check.
Brands
A brand belongs in the catalog. A supplier or a work queue often does not.
Draft and Private
Useful when publishing should change. Wrong tool when a live product only needs to be filed for later.
Title or SKU prefixes
OLD -, ZZ - and similar tricks turn real product data into admin notes.
A spreadsheet
It lives beside WooCommerce and has to be maintained twice.
Search and filters
Good for finding something you already know. They do not keep 1,000+ products split into stable working groups.
Folders that match the work behind the shop
By supplier
A supplier changes prices or stock. Open that supplier instead of the whole catalog.
By season
Keep the next collection apart while the current one is still live.
Work in progress
Put unfinished catalog jobs where the team can see them.
Retired, not deleted
Old products can stay in WooCommerce without sitting in the group you work from every day.
After an import
Keep one import batch together while the team checks titles, images, prices and stock.
Coupons
Keep campaign codes apart from partner, influencer and expired coupons.
The folders are inside WooCommerce admin
No extra product manager. No separate Plathix catalog. The folder tree sits next to the normal WooCommerce list in wp-admin.
Click Supplier A, Photos needed or any other folder. The same Products table stays on screen with the columns you already use: product name, SKU, stock, price and status.
Open a folder. Then work as usual.
Choose a folder and see that group in the Products list.
Search inside the folder.
Use the normal WooCommerce filters.
Open a product and edit it as usual.
Change the folder in Quick Edit or in the product editor.
Use the Folder column to see where a product is filed.
Keep drafts, scheduled and private products in the folder counts.
What folders organize — and what WooCommerce keeps
| What you do | Organized by Plathix | Still handled by WooCommerce |
|---|---|---|
| Put a product in a folder | Folder assignment | URL, categories, tags, brand, price, stock, status, visibility |
| Put a coupon in a folder | Folder assignment | Code, amount, limits, expiry |
| Change price or stock | Folder assignment stays the same | Price and stock |
| Change a category | Folder assignment stays the same | Product categories |
| Rename or move a folder | Folder tree | Product pages and store structure |
| Trash and restore a product | Folder assignment stays saved | WooCommerce Trash state |
| Turn Plathix PRO off | Folder UI hides; saved folder data remains | Products, coupons and WooCommerce data |
Folders have no public shop URLs. They are not category pages, customer filters or part of the store navigation.
Keep old products without deleting them
Last year’s products may still have useful URLs, reviews, sales history or product data. Deleting them just to clean up wp-admin is risky.
Put them in Discontinued or Archive 2025 and work from the folders that matter now. The product itself stays exactly as WooCommerce needs it.
Product images can have their own folders too
A large catalog usually comes with hundreds or thousands of product images. Plathix Free can organize those files in Media Library folders without changing their URLs.
Keep images by collection, supplier, campaign, shoot or any other grouping that makes sense for the store.
A media folder can also be shown as a gallery with a shortcode. If that set of images changes, update the media folder instead of rebuilding the gallery on the page.
Product folders and Media Library folders are separate trees. You can give them similar names, but they are not one shared folder.
Running the store in several languages?
A 1,000-product catalog in several languages means far more entries to keep straight in wp-admin. Polylang and WPML have both been tested with Content Folders.
The language setup stays separate from the internal folder tree. Your team can file the work without turning those folders into part of the storefront.
Folder Trash
Folders have their own Trash. Removing a folder does not mean deleting the WooCommerce products or coupons inside it. The folder structure and the store content are handled separately.
How we test Content Folders with WooCommerce
Every check runs on a real WooCommerce site with Plathix PRO. We open the actual Products and Coupons screens, create folders, move items, use WooCommerce filters, edit products, trash and restore items, and check the storefront afterwards.
We expect one thing from every test: folders should make wp-admin easier without changing the shop.

WooCommerce compatibility
WooCommerce itself is only part of a real store. Extensions can add their own admin screens, so we test those separately instead of assuming every WooCommerce extension behaves the same way.
