Folders for GeneratePress Elements
GP Premium Elements run a big part of a site: hooks, layout rules, page heroes, site headers, footers and loop templates. The Elements list keeps them all in one table.
Plathix PRO adds private folders to Appearance → Elements. Group elements by site area, campaign or client and open just the folder you need. Elements and their display rules stay as they are.
Every element in one table
The Elements list mixes everything: a hook for the top bar, a layout rule for archives, three page heroes, last year’s sale notice and two drafts nobody remembers.
The type filter helps. It does not tell you which elements belong to which part of the site, which campaign or which client.
Three pages of elements in one mixed list
Nobody minds one element. The trouble starts when a site has dozens of them, of every type, in one table.
Hooks, headers and layouts sit in one mixed list, so you set the same filter every time you open the screen.
Over forty elements on one site: page heroes, calls to action, layouts and many custom hooks. The list keeps growing.
One header element for each page, more than a hundred of them, plus as many hooks that may not be needed any more.
Three pages of elements on one build. Whoever looks after that site has a lot to keep track of.
Folders sort the Elements list by site area, campaign or client. Every display rule stays as it is.
Folders that match how your site is built
By site area
Header, footer, sidebars, heroes, archive templates: one folder for each part of the page.
Campaign hooks
Seasonal notices and banners live in a campaign folder, so you find them again when the next sale starts.
Hooks with code
Keep Hook Elements that run PHP or shortcodes in one folder, so you know where to look when something on the page changes.
Retired elements
Old elements you may need again get their own folder. Set them to Draft too: a folder alone does not switch them off.
One folder panel on Appearance → Elements
A folder tree next to the list
The panel sits beside the Elements list. Click a folder and the list shows only its elements.
One tree for all element types
Hooks, layouts, headers and block elements share one list, so they share one folder tree.
Drafts are counted
Folder counts include drafts, scheduled and private elements, not only published ones.
A link for each folder
The address changes when you open a folder, so you can bookmark it or send it to a teammate.
GeneratePress never sees your folders
| What you do | What changes | What stays as it is |
|---|---|---|
| Put an element in a folder | Its Plathix folder | The element, its type and its settings |
| Rename or move a folder | The folder tree in wp-admin | Its Location, Exclude and Users rules |
| Open the site | Nothing | Each element shows where its rules say |
| Trash an element, then restore it | Its Trash state | Its folder: it comes back to the same place |
| Turn Plathix PRO off | The list looks like plain WordPress | Your folders wait in the database and come back |
Folders have no URLs and never appear on the site.
How we test GeneratePress Elements
We run each check on a live site with Plathix PRO, the GeneratePress theme and the current GP Premium version, on the real Elements screen.
Status Planned
Results go to Plathix Lab. Each row turns into a link once it has run.
| Check | What we verify | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Enable Elements | Tick Elements (gp_elements) in Enabled Sections; the panel appears on Appearance → Elements. | Planned |
| GeneratePress tabs | The panel sits correctly under the GeneratePress dashboard tabs on the Elements screen. | Planned |
| Type filter | Folder view together with the All types filter and the status tabs. | Planned |
| Display rules unchanged | Move a Site Header element between folders: the site shows the same header. | Planned |
| Trash and restore | A trashed element comes back to its folder. | Planned |
