Folders for Bricks templates
A Bricks site runs on templates: headers, footers, single and archive layouts, reusable sections, popups. Add a few client projects and the template list gets long.
Plathix PRO adds private folders to the Bricks templates list in wp-admin. Group templates by client, site area or campaign and open just the folder you need. Templates, their conditions and the pages they render on stay as they are.
Bundles and tags help. The list is still long.
The Bricks templates list shows every template in one table: site headers, single layouts, small sections, popups from past campaigns.
Bricks has template bundles and tags. On a big library it still gets hard to find one template, and Bricks users have asked for folders on top.
Super messy to find something
A Bricks site needs many templates. People describe what happens next: copies, rough names and a long list to search.
Make more than a couple of templates and it gets super messy to find something.
Template names get rough, like header final-Final-v2, so it is hard to tell which ones a page uses.
Lots of popups in the same style, each with one small difference inside.
With some translation setups, every template has to be duplicated for each language.
A folder tree next to the templates list sorts them by client, site area or campaign. Templates and their conditions stay as they are.
Folders that match how you build with Bricks
By client
One folder per client or design, so the next project starts from the right header and sections.
By site area
Headers and footers, single and archive layouts, reusable sections: each area in its own folder.
Popups by campaign
Popups are Bricks templates too. Give each campaign a folder and the rest of the year stays tidy.
Finished projects
Templates from a finished project move to an archive folder instead of being deleted.
One folder panel on the Bricks templates list
A folder tree next to the list
The panel sits beside the Bricks templates list. Click a folder and the list shows only its templates.
One tree for all template types
Headers, footers, sections, popups and the other types share one list, so they share one folder tree.
Next to bundles and tags
Your template bundles and tags keep working. Folders are a separate tree, just for wp-admin.
A link for each folder
The address changes when you open a folder, so you can bookmark it or send it to a teammate.
Bricks never sees your folders
| What you do | What changes | What stays as it is |
|---|---|---|
| Put a template in a folder | Its Plathix folder | The template, its type, bundle and tags |
| Move a header to another folder | The folder tree in wp-admin | Its conditions and the pages it renders on |
| Insert a template in the builder | Nothing | The builder’s template library works as before |
| Trash a template, then restore it | Its Trash state | Its folder: it comes back to the same place |
| Turn Plathix PRO off | The list looks like plain WordPress | Your folders wait in the database and come back |
Folders have no URLs and never appear on the site.
How we test Bricks templates
We run each check on a live site with Plathix PRO and the current Bricks version, on the real templates screen.
Status Planned
Results go to Plathix Lab. Each row turns into a link once it has run.
| Check | What we verify | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Enable templates | Turn on the Bricks templates type (bricks_template) in Enabled Sections; the panel appears on the list. | Planned |
| Bundles and tags | Folder view together with Bricks bundles and tags; neither one changes. | Planned |
| Popups | Popup templates in the same tree as headers and sections. | Planned |
| Conditions unchanged | Move a header with conditions between folders: the site shows the same header. | Planned |
| Builder unchanged | Insert a template that sits in a folder: the page looks the same. | Planned |
| Trash and restore | A trashed template comes back to its folder. | Planned |
