Folders for GeoDirectory places
A directory grows one place at a time, until the Places list holds thousands. Categories and locations sort it for visitors, but they are public pages, not a to-do list for your team.
Plathix PRO adds private folders to the GeoDirectory Places list. Group places by sales rep, by the area you are building or by what still needs work. Categories, locations, maps and place pages stay as they are.
Public categories, private to-do lists
In GeoDirectory, categories, tags and locations do a public job: they build the directory pages your visitors browse. A category called “To check” would show up there too.
The Places list has no filters of its own for this kind of work, so teams keep such notes in an admin-only field or outside WordPress.
Folders give that work a place in wp-admin, and visitors never see them.
The directory grows by the thousand. The work comes in small groups.
Directory owners ask for groups that visitors never see: one package, the businesses nobody has claimed, the submissions that do not belong.
We have hundreds of thousands of places. How do we find all the Bronze ones?
We import businesses as unclaimed. The ones nobody claims should not stay forever.
A business from another town signed up for our local directory. Where does a listing like that go?
The same place comes in twice, with the same title and text. Spam comes in too.
Folders do not read packages, claims or statuses. You file places yourself: unclaimed imports, submissions you will not publish, duplicates to check. Visitors never see those folders.
Folders for the work behind a directory
Review queues
To check, Needs photos, Wrong address: move a place in, fix it, move it on. Nothing shows on the site.
By sales rep or partner
Give each rep or partner a folder for the places they look after. The place pages stay exactly the same.
Areas you are building
Opening a new district or town? Collect its places in one folder until the area is ready to show.
Imports in batches
Imported a few hundred places from a CSV file? Keep each batch in its own folder while someone checks it.
Closed and old places
Places marked Closed down stay in the list and in the folder counts. File them under Archive so the active ones are easier to work with.
Claimed and unclaimed
Imported businesses wait in Unclaimed. When an owner claims a place, move it to Claimed. The folder shows who still needs a call.
The folder panel on the Places list
A folder tree next to Places
The panel sits beside the GeoDirectory Places list. Click a folder and the list shows only its places.
Closed places are counted
A folder counts what the All view shows: published, pending, draft, private and Closed down places, and Sold or Under Offer if you use them. Trash is not counted.
One tree per listing type
If your directory has more listing types than Places, each type has its own list and its own folder tree.
A link for each folder
The address changes when you open a folder, so a teammate can open the To check folder straight from a link.
Visitors never see your folders
| What you do | What changes | What stays as it is |
|---|---|---|
| Put a place in a folder | Its Plathix folder | Address, map pin, categories, tags and place page |
| Move a place to “To check” | The folder tree in wp-admin | Its status: it stays published while you work |
| Rename or move a folder | The folder tree in wp-admin | Location pages, category pages and every place URL |
| Trash a place, then restore it | Its Trash state | Its folder: it comes back to the same place |
| Turn Plathix PRO off | The list looks like plain WordPress | Your folders wait in the database and come back |
Folders have no URLs, are not categories or locations, and never appear in the directory.
How we test GeoDirectory
We run each check on a live site with Plathix PRO and the current GeoDirectory version, on the real Places screen.
Status Planned
Results go to Plathix Lab. Each row turns into a link once it has run.
| Check | What we verify | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Enable places | Turn on Places (gd_place) in Enabled Sections; the panel and the Folder column appear on the list. | Planned |
| Closed down | Closed down places count in their folder and show in its Closed down tab. | Planned |
| Big directory | A directory with thousands of places: folder counts and paging. | Planned |
| Second listing type | A second GeoDirectory listing type gets its own tree. | Planned |
| Directory unchanged | Place pages, the map, category and location pages look the same. | Planned |
| Trash and restore | A trashed place comes back to its folder. | Planned |
