Folders for Sensei LMS courses
Duplicate a course in Sensei and the copy keeps the same name, as a draft. Do it once per term, and the Courses list shows the same title three times.
Plathix PRO adds private folders to the Sensei lists in wp-admin. File courses by term or client, lessons by stage, and questions by subject. Categories, modules, quizzes and what learners see stay as they are.
Three courses with one name
Sensei’s Duplicate copies a course, or a course with its lessons, and keeps the title. The copy starts as a draft, so the list shows the same name with and without “Draft”.
Course categories and modules shape what learners see. They are the wrong place for “Spring term”, “Client A” or “check before launch”.
The same course again and again, and a question bank that keeps growing
People who teach with Sensei describe copies of one course, and question banks that run into the thousands.
The same course runs from different start dates, and you do not want hundreds of copies of it.
Course B has a lot in common with course A, so you duplicate A and start from there.
2,500 questions in the question bank means more than 100 pages of them.
Authors come and go, and each one adds to the same big question bank.
Folders give each term, client or subject its own place in the Courses, Lessons and Questions lists. Learners see nothing new.
Folders that match how you teach
By term
Each term’s copies go to their own folder, so the spring and autumn versions of one course never get mixed up.
By client
Courses you build for one school or company stay together for the next request.
Lessons by stage
The Lessons list has its own tree: lessons in progress, lessons ready for review, old lessons kept for reference.
Question bank by subject
Questions you reuse across quizzes can be filed by subject or level. Question categories still decide which random questions a quiz pulls.
Finished terms
Courses from a past term can stay published for their learners and still sit in an Archive folder.
Three Sensei lists, three folder trees
Courses
Under Sensei LMS → Courses, below Sensei’s All Courses and Course Categories tabs.
Lessons
A separate tree on the Lessons list, beside Sensei’s filter by course.
Questions
The question bank gets its own tree too.
A Folder column
Each row shows its folder. Sensei puts its own columns first, so the Folder column comes at the end of the row.
Learners never see your folders
| What you do | What changes | What stays as it is |
|---|---|---|
| Put a course in a folder | Its Plathix folder | Its lessons, modules, categories and link |
| File a question in a folder | Its Plathix folder | Its categories and every quiz that uses it |
| Rename or move a folder | The folder tree in wp-admin | Course pages and learner progress |
| Publish a duplicated draft | Its status | Its folder: the status does not move it |
| Turn Plathix PRO off | The lists look like plain WordPress | Your folders wait in the database and come back |
Folders have no URLs and never appear in courses, lessons or quizzes.
How we test Sensei folders
We run each check on a live site with Plathix PRO and the current Sensei LMS version, on the real Sensei lists.
Status Planned
Results go to Plathix Lab. Each row turns into a link once it has run.
| Check | What we verify | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Enable the lists | Turn on courses, lessons and questions in Enabled Sections; a panel appears on each list. | Planned |
| Sensei header | The folder panel next to Sensei’s own header and tabs. | Planned |
| Duplicate | Where a duplicated course lands, with and without its lessons. | Planned |
| Course filter | Sensei’s filter by course together with a folder on the Lessons list. | Planned |
| Quiz unchanged | A quiz that adds questions from a category still uses that category. | Planned |
| Trash and restore | A trashed lesson comes back to its folder. | Planned |
