Folders for Ultimate FAQ questions
FAQs are quick to add and hard to keep tidy: a question for each product, each delivery rule, each sale. Soon the FAQs list is one long column of questions that look alike.
Plathix PRO adds private folders to the Ultimate FAQ list. Group questions by product, season or review step. FAQ categories, tags and the FAQ pages visitors see stay as they are.
Every category you add can show up on the site
In Ultimate FAQ, categories choose which questions a block or shortcode shows. FAQ categories and tags are public too, with their own archive pages.
So a category made only to sort your work can end up in front of visitors. Folders sort the list without adding anything public.
A short FAQ grows into thousands of questions
People who run FAQ pages describe the same growth. It starts as a short list and ends with questions for every product and language.
The FAQ list runs into the thousands, and every question opens its own page with the answer.
Over 100 questions in five languages already feels like too much to maintain.
Each product has its own questions, and each product page should show only those.
The tags were hidden on every question, but each tag still had its own public page that bots kept visiting.
Folders sort questions by product, language or task for your team, without one more public category or tag.
Folders for how you work, categories for what visitors see
By product or service
Keep each product’s or service’s questions together without one more public category.
A review step
New and changed answers wait in To check until someone reads them.
Seasonal answers
Holiday delivery times, sale rules, event questions: keep them in one folder and update them each year.
Old answers
Questions about old prices or retired products go to an archive folder. They stay published until you change their status.
The same folder panel as in the Media Library
A folder tree next to All FAQs
The panel sits beside the Ultimate FAQ list. Click a folder and the list shows only its questions.
A Folder column
Every row shows its folder, beside Ultimate FAQ’s own Categories, Tags and views columns.
Search inside a folder
Search, status tabs and the date filter work inside the open folder.
A link for each folder
The address changes when you open a folder, so you can bookmark it or send it to a teammate.
Visitors never see your folders
| What you do | What changes | What stays as it is |
|---|---|---|
| Put a question in a folder | Its Plathix folder | Its categories, tags and answer |
| Rename or move a folder | The folder tree in wp-admin | Every FAQ block and shortcode on your pages |
| Move a question to Old answers | Its Plathix folder | Its status: a published FAQ stays published |
| Trash a question, then restore it | Its Trash state | Its folder: it comes back to the same place |
| Turn Plathix PRO off | The list looks like plain WordPress | Your folders wait in the database and come back |
Folders have no URLs, no archive pages, and never appear on the site.
How we test Ultimate FAQ
We run each check on a live site with Plathix PRO and the current Ultimate FAQ version, on the real All FAQs screen.
Status Planned
Results go to Plathix Lab. Each row turns into a link once it has run.
| Check | What we verify | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Enable FAQs | Turn on Ultimate FAQ in Enabled Sections; the panel appears on All FAQs. | Planned |
| Categories unchanged | Move a question between folders: its categories and tags stay the same. | Planned |
| FAQ block unchanged | A page with an FAQ block looks the same after folders are added. | Planned |
| Search in a folder | Search the FAQs list inside an open folder. | Planned |
| Trash and restore | A trashed question comes back to its folder. | Planned |
