Folders for WPAdverts classifieds
A classifieds site never stops growing. New ads come in from the site every day, old ones expire, and all of them stay in one Classifieds list.
Plathix PRO adds private folders to that list. Group ads by client, region or task and open just the folder you need. The ads, their categories and their expiry dates stay as they are.
New, pending, expired: every ad in one list
Ads come in from the site every day. Some wait for review, some get renewed, many expire. WPAdverts keeps them all in the Classifieds list, and an expired ad stays there until someone deletes it.
The list has search and status tabs. It does not keep the groups your team works with: the ads you posted for one dealer, the ads that still need a check, the old ones that can go.
Ad categories do not help here. Each category has its own page on your site, so a category called “Check photos” would be public.
New ads every day, old ads that never leave
People who run classifieds sites talk about two things: old ads that pile up for years, and spam that keeps coming in.
Our old site has a huge number of expired ads, about 250,000.
If we delete the pages of sold items, search engines see errors. If we keep them all, the site keeps growing.
Spam ads come in every few minutes, and we remove them by hand.
We post ads for people ourselves, to help them get started.
Folders do not delete, expire or hide ads. They let you set aside the ads to keep, the ads to remove and each client’s ads, right inside the Classifieds list.
Folders for the way you run a classifieds site
By client
Dealers and agencies post many ads, and your team often posts for them. One folder per client shows their whole stock when they call.
Ads to check
Reported ads, missing photos, a price that looks wrong. A folder works as a to-do list next to the ads and does not change their status.
By region
Give each region its own folder. The person who covers the north opens one folder, not the whole list.
Before a cleanup
Expired ads stay in the list for years. Collect the ones you plan to remove in one folder, check them, and clean up from there.
Expired, page kept
WPAdverts can keep showing an expired ad’s page, with contact options turned off. If you use that, file the expired ads worth keeping in their own folder, so a cleanup does not remove them by mistake.
The folder panel next to your Classifieds list
A folder tree next to the list
The panel sits beside the Classifieds list in wp-admin. Click a folder and the list shows only its ads.
Status tabs inside a folder
Open a folder, then the Pending or Expired tab, and see just that part of it. Search works inside the folder too.
Counts that include expired ads
A folder counts what the All view shows: published, pending, draft and expired ads. Trash is not counted.
A link for each folder
The address changes when you open a folder, so you can bookmark it or send it to a teammate.
WPAdverts never sees your folders
| What you do | What changes | What stays as it is |
|---|---|---|
| Put an ad in a folder | Its Plathix folder | The ad, its category, price and expiry date |
| An ad expires | Its status: Expired | Its folder: the ad stays where you filed it |
| Rename or move a folder | The folder tree in wp-admin | Ad pages and category pages on your site |
| Trash an ad, then restore it | Its Trash state | Its folder: it comes back to the same place |
| Turn Plathix PRO off | The list looks like plain WordPress | Your folders wait in the database and come back |
Folders have no URLs and never appear on the site.
How we test WPAdverts classifieds
