Folders for Directorist listings

Directorist listings come and go: new ones wait for review, live ones expire, some get rejected. All of them share one admin list, and it only gets longer.

Plathix PRO adds private folders to the Directorist listings list. Group listings by client, by sales rep or by the next step, and open just the folder you need. Directory types, categories, locations and listing pages stay as they are.

One list for everything

Pending, live, expired, rejected all in one list

Directorist keeps every listing in one admin list: new ones waiting for review, live ones, expired ones and rejected ones. If you run several directories, their listings share that list too.

Categories, locations and tags are public. They shape the directory your visitors search, so they are the wrong place for notes like “call the owner” or “waiting for photos”.

Folders keep those notes in wp-admin.

In people’s words

Thousands of listings arrive at once. One admin list holds them all.

Directory owners talk about big imports and long lists. The numbers grow fast, and All Listings is where they feel it.

We imported more than 20,000 companies in 35 files. Around 600 of them came in twice.

With 32,000 listings, going through them 20 at a time is a very long job.

I want All Listings to show only the listings of one location.

Everything is posted by users, so each new listing needs a look before it goes live.

Folders do not remove duplicates or publish anything. They give each import, area and task its own place next to All Listings, and nothing new appears in the directory.

Folders for running a directory

Review queue

New submissions that need a closer look: missing photos, wrong address, odd category. Work through the folder, then move them on.

By client or sales rep

One folder per client or per rep shows what each one brought in, live, pending or expired.

Renewal follow-up

Listings close to expiry or just expired: keep them in one folder for your renewal emails or calls.

By directory, then by task

The directory filter shows one directory at a time. Folders add the next level: what still needs doing inside it.

Seasonal listings

Summer markets, winter fairs: file seasonal listings by year, so next season starts from last season’s list.

Import batches

Big imports often come in many files. Give each batch a folder, and keep the duplicates you find in one place until you delete them.

What you get

The folder panel on All Listings

A folder tree next to your listings

The panel sits beside Directorist → All Listings. Click a folder and the list shows only its listings.

Expired and rejected count

A folder counts what the All view shows: published, pending, draft, private, expired and rejected listings. Trash is not counted.

One tree for all directories

With several directory types turned on, all listings share one list, so they share one folder tree.

A link for each folder

The address changes when you open a folder, so you can bookmark the review queue or send it to a colleague.

Virtual folders

The directory never sees your folders

Directorist folders FAQ

Do folders change my directory?
No. Folders live in wp-admin only. Directory types, categories, locations and listing pages stay as they are.
Will a folder keep an expired listing from being deleted?
No. Directorist’s expiry settings still apply. If a listing goes to the trash and you restore it, it returns to its folder.
Are expired and rejected listings counted?
Yes. They show in the All view, so they count. Trash does not.
Can listing owners see the folders?
No. Folders are on the admin list only.
Do several directories share one tree?
Yes. Directorist keeps all directory types in one listings list, so they share one folder tree.
Is this in Plathix Free?
No. Content folders are part of Plathix PRO. Free organizes the Media Library.
