Folders for Advanced Ads
Ads pile up fast: several advertisers, a new campaign every season, banners in three sizes for each. The Ads list keeps every one of them, old and new.
Plathix PRO adds private folders to the Advanced Ads list. Build the tree you need, for example advertiser, then year, then campaign. Ad groups, placements and what visitors see stay as they are.
Hundreds of ads and no tree to file them
People who run ads for several advertisers ask for the same thing: a tree like advertiser, then year, then campaign. The Ads list gives you names, search and filters, but no tree.
Ad groups look like the answer, but they have a job on the site. A group decides which ads rotate in one spot and in what order. Move an ad to another group to tidy up, and you change what visitors see.
Soon it is a nightmare to find the ad you need
People who run ads for several clients describe the same moment. Names and search are enough for the first ads. Then the list grows, and the naming rules stop helping.
Ads should be grouped by client. Inside each client: the year, then the campaign, then the ads for each spot on the site.
Naming every ad and searching for it works for a while. With tons of ads, it is not practical any more.
Once you have dozens of ads, keeping them in order is hard.
Thirty pages with six ad spots on each one. That is 180 ads, and you still want a clear overview.
Folders give every client, year and campaign its own place in the Ads list. Ad groups keep deciding what visitors see.
Build the tree your ad work needs
Advertiser → year → campaign
The tree people ask for. Each advertiser has a folder, each year a subfolder, each campaign its own folder inside.
Waiting for approval
New creatives that wait for the advertiser’s yes stay together as drafts until you publish them.
House ads
Your own banners, such as the newsletter or a shop sale, live apart from paid campaigns.
Past campaigns
Ads you took down stay in an archive folder, ready to run again next year. It works next to the Expired view of Advanced Ads, not instead of it.
A folder panel for the Ads list
A folder tree next to the list
The panel sits beside the Ads list. Click a folder and the list shows only its ads.
Folders inside folders
Nest as deep as you need: advertiser, year, campaign, size.
Groups stay groups
An ad sits in one folder and in as many ad groups as you like. Folders do not touch the groups.
A link for each folder
The address changes when you open a folder, so you can bookmark it or send it to a teammate.
Your visitors never see your folders
| What you do | What changes | What stays as it is |
|---|---|---|
| Put an ad in a folder | Its Plathix folder | The ad, its groups and its schedule |
| Rename or move a folder | The folder tree in wp-admin | Every placement and ad group |
| An ad reaches its end date | Advanced Ads handles it as before | Its folder |
| Trash an ad, then restore it | Its Trash state | Its folder: it comes back to the same place |
| Turn Plathix PRO off | The list looks like plain WordPress | Your folders wait in the database and come back |
Folders have no URLs and never appear on the site.
How we test Advanced Ads
We run each check on a live site with Plathix PRO and the current Advanced Ads version, on the real Ads list.
Status Planned
Results go to Plathix Lab. Each row turns into a link once it has run.
| Check | What we verify | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Enable ads | Turn on Ads in Enabled Sections; the panel appears on the Ads list. | Planned |
| Expiring and Expired | Folder filter together with the Expiring and Expired views. | Planned |
| Plugin filters | Folder filter together with the group, type and size filters. | Planned |
| Nested tree | Advertiser, year and campaign folders with about 50 ads from four advertisers. | Planned |
| Rotation unchanged | A group on a page rotates the same ads after filing them in folders. | Planned |
| Trash and restore | A trashed ad comes back to its folder. | Planned |
