Folders for affiliate links
Affiliate links pile up with every review and every deal post. A few years in, the list holds hundreds of links to shops, programs and offers that ended.
Plathix PRO adds private folders to the ThirstyAffiliates links list. Group links by shop, campaign or task and open one folder at a time. Every link keeps its address, its redirect and its categories.
Six hundred links in one list
The Affiliate Links list shows every link you ever made: live offers, seasonal deals, links to programs you left years ago.
Link categories help, but in ThirstyAffiliates they can be part of the link itself. With the Link Category in URL setting on, the category is in each link’s address, so moving links between categories just to tidy the list is risky.
How do you stay organized with that many links?
Affiliate sites grow one post at a time. After a few years it gets hard to say which link belongs to which program, and which links still work.
About 25 affiliate programs, each with its own links and its own dashboard to look at.
A program ends, or a link has to change. Where are all its links? As the site grows, that becomes a nightmare.
About 150 affiliate links from two years of posts. One breaks, and the commissions are gone before you notice.
Next to the link plugin there is a spreadsheet: every program, its links, and whether you still promote it.
Folders do not check links. They give each program, campaign and to-check list its own place, right next to the links.
Folders that match how you earn
By shop or program
One folder per shop or affiliate program. When a program changes its terms, you see every link it touches.
By campaign or season
Holiday deals, spring sales, a launch week. Keep each campaign’s links together and find them again next year.
To check
Found a link that may be broken or point to a missing product? Move it to a To check folder and work through the list.
Ended programs
Links to programs you left sit in one folder, so you can replace them in your posts one by one. They still redirect as before.
A folder panel for Affiliate Links
A folder tree next to the list
The panel sits beside the Affiliate Links list. Click a folder and the list shows only its links.
A Folder column
Every row shows its folder; click it to open that folder.
Search inside a folder
Search, status tabs and date filters work inside the open folder.
A link for each folder
The address changes when you open a folder, so you can bookmark it or send it to a teammate.
Your links never see your folders
| What you do | What changes | What stays as it is |
|---|---|---|
| Put a link in a folder | Its Plathix folder | The link address, its redirect and its categories |
| Rename or move a folder | The folder tree in wp-admin | Every link inside your posts |
| A visitor clicks a link | Nothing | They land in the same place as before |
| Trash a link, then restore it | Its Trash state | Its folder: it comes back to the same place |
| Turn Plathix PRO off | The list looks like plain WordPress | Your folders wait in the database and come back |
Folders have no URLs and never appear on the site.
How we test ThirstyAffiliates
We run each check on a live site with Plathix PRO and the current ThirstyAffiliates version, on the real Affiliate Links screen.
Status Planned
Results go to Plathix Lab. Each row turns into a link once it has run.
| Check | What we verify | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Enable affiliate links | Turn on Affiliate Links in Enabled Sections; the panel appears on the list. | Planned |
| Category filter | Folder filter together with the link category drop-down. | Planned |
| Link address unchanged | The cloaked URL stays the same after moving a link between folders, with Link Category in URL on and off. | Planned |
| ThirstyPay links | These links share the same content type; check how they show in folders. | Planned |
| Trash and restore | A trashed link comes back to its folder. | Planned |
