Folders for Download Monitor
Price lists, manuals, brochures, software builds. Every file you offer for download becomes a row in All Downloads, and the list keeps growing.
Plathix PRO adds private folders to the Download Monitor list. Group downloads by product, team or year and open one folder at a time. Download links, versions, categories and access stay as they are.
Hundreds of files in one list
All Downloads mixes everything: current manuals and old ones, files for customers and files for partners, one-off documents from campaigns that ended.
Download categories and tags work for the site. Shortcodes use them to choose which downloads a page lists, so they are part of what visitors see. They are not a good place for notes like ‘old’ or ‘check’.
Lots of PDFs, and someone has to keep them in order
People who set up downloads for a local group, a nonprofit or a client start with a pile of files. The question is always the same: how will this stay manageable later?
A new website for a client, and almost a hundred files to download from the start.
Lots of PDFs, no budget, and several folders of files already waiting to go online.
The library will grow from 50 documents to 1,500. A person who is not technical has to manage it.
In wp-admin, folders give those files a tree again: by product, team or year. Download links and access stay as they are.
Folders that match how you share files
By product
Manuals, datasheets and drivers for one product sit together, so support finds them in one click.
By team or audience
Files for customers, partners and the sales team in separate folders. Who can download them is still set in Download Monitor.
By year
Price lists and catalogues by year. Last year’s list is easy to find when a customer asks for it.
Out of date
Files you no longer promote go to one folder. Their download links keep working for anyone who saved them.
A folder panel for All Downloads
A folder tree next to the list
The panel sits beside All Downloads. Click a folder and the list shows only its downloads.
Downloads, not versions
Each download sits in one folder. Its versions stay inside it, as Download Monitor keeps them.
Search inside a folder
Search and status tabs work inside the open folder.
A link for each folder
The address changes when you open a folder, so you can bookmark it or send it to a teammate.
Your download pages never see your folders
| What you do | What changes | What stays as it is |
|---|---|---|
| Put a download in a folder | Its Plathix folder | The download, its versions and its file |
| Rename or move a folder | The folder tree in wp-admin | Every download link and shortcode |
| Add a new version | Download Monitor serves the new file, as before | Its folder |
| Trash a download, then restore it | Its Trash state | Its folder: it comes back to the same place |
| Turn Plathix PRO off | The list looks like plain WordPress | Your folders wait in the database and come back |
Folders have no URLs and never appear on the site.
How we test Download Monitor
We run each check on a live site with Plathix PRO and the current Download Monitor version, on the real All Downloads screen.
Status Planned
Results go to Plathix Lab. Each row turns into a link once it has run.
| Check | What we verify | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Enable downloads | Turn on Downloads in Enabled Sections; the panel appears on All Downloads. | Planned |
| Columns in a folder view | Open a folder and compare the columns with the Download Monitor table. | Planned |
| Category filter | Folder filter together with the download category filter. | Planned |
| Links unchanged | A download link gives the same file after moving the download between folders. | Planned |
| Trash and restore | A trashed download comes back to its folder. | Planned |
