Folders for Event Organiser events

Every year adds a few hundred events to the list: classes, talks, open days. Past events stay published for people who look them up, and in the admin they sit between you and next month.

Plathix PRO adds private folders to the Event Organiser events list. File events by year, season, program or client, and open just the folder you need. The calendar, the event pages and their addresses stay as they are.

Past events pile up

Hundreds of events and one long list

The Event Organiser list shows all events by default, past and upcoming. You can filter by category, by venue, or by future and expired events. You cannot filter by what your team talks about: this season, the summer school, Client A.

A category for that would show on your site, because Event Organiser gives each category its own page. Deleting old events loses the history people still look up.

In people’s words

Keep the past, but not in the way

People who run Event Organiser sites want two things at once. Every past event should stay, and the list should still be easy to work in.

The events list starts with the oldest events. To edit a recent one, you sort again or click through all the pages to the end.

Old events should move somewhere, so the events list in the admin is more organised.

Deleting past events seems so final. It also means you cannot copy them anymore.

Past events drop off and end up in the trash. We need them to stay.

Folders let you do both: file past events by year, and open the folder you are working on.

Folders that match how you run events

Past events by year

Move last year’s events into “Past 2025”. They stay published and keep their pages. The list you work in shows what is coming.

By season or term

One folder per season, so planning the next one starts from the right list.

By program

Summer school, a lecture series, family days. A program that comes back every year keeps all its events in one folder.

By client or partner

If you run events for others, give each client a folder. No category, no public page, no code.

Repeating events

Event Organiser shows a repeating event as one row in the list, with all its dates inside. Put the series in a folder once.

What you get

A folder tree next to your events

A folder panel on All Events

The panel sits beside the Event Organiser events list. Click a folder and the list shows only its events.

A Folder column

Every row shows its folder; click it to open that folder.

Search inside a folder

Search and the status tabs work inside the open folder.

A link for each folder

The address changes when you open a folder, so you can bookmark it or send it to a teammate.

Virtual folders

Event Organiser never sees your folders

Event Organiser folders FAQ

Do folders change my events or the calendar?
No. Folders live in wp-admin only. Dates, venues, categories and event addresses stay as they are.
Can I archive past events without deleting them?
Yes. Put them in a folder such as “Past 2025”. They stay published and keep their pages.
Is a folder the same as an event category?
No. Event Organiser categories have their own pages on your site. Folders have no pages and no URLs; only your team sees them in wp-admin.
Do venues get folders?
No. In Event Organiser venues are not posts and have their own screen, so the folder panel cannot show there.
Will folders stop “Delete expired events”?
No. If that setting is on, old events still go to the trash. Turn it off to keep an archive.
Is this in Plathix Free?
No. Content folders are part of Plathix PRO. Free organizes the Media Library.
