Folders for Events Manager

Events Manager opens the Events list on future events, so the past seems to vanish. Pick “All events” and years of history come back in one long list.

Plathix PRO adds private folders to the Events and Locations lists, and to Repeating Events if you use them. File past events by year, group events by program or location, and keep every event published. Event pages, bookings and their addresses stay as they are.

Where did the past go?

Hidden by default, endless when shown

Events Manager opens the Events list on future events. That keeps it short, until you need last spring’s workshop to copy it, or a past event someone asks about.

Switch the date filter to “Past events” or “All events” and every past event comes back at once: years of history in one list, with nothing to set one season apart.

The usual ways out cost something: delete old events, set them to draft so their pages stop working, or add a category that shows up on the site.

In people’s words

Five thousand events, and the past is out of sight

Events Manager sites grow quietly, because the list opens on what is coming. The past stays out of sight until someone needs it, and then it is all there at once.

We are at five thousand events. We want to keep last year and clear out the years before.

Sorting five thousand events by date, page by page, would take very, very long.

Where are the past events? The list shows only current and upcoming ones until you change the filter.

Old newsletters still link to past events. People go back to them, so those pages need to stay.

Folders keep the past within reach without deleting it: one folder per year or program, opened when you need it.

Folders that match how you run events

Past events by year

Move finished events to “Past 2025” and “Past 2024”. Their status, pages and bookings stay as they are.

By program

Workshops, weekly classes, talks: see one program at a time while you plan the next term.

By location, for your team

Main hall, Garden, Online. A private group for planning; the location set on each event does not change.

By client or organizer

When you run events for others: one folder per client or partner.

Events to copy

Keep events you run every year in “To repeat”. The Duplicate link in Events Manager makes a draft copy; file the copy in its new folder.

Archive without deleting.Past events go into a folder. Their status and address do not change, and they are out of your way in wp-admin.
What you get

A folder tree for each list

Events

The panel sits next to the Events list. Click a folder and the list shows only its events.

Locations

Locations have their own list under Events and their own tree: by city, by partner, or places you no longer use.

Repeating Events

Do you use repeated events? Their Repeating Events list gets a separate tree too.

A Folder column

Each row shows its folder next to the event name. Click it to open that folder.

A link for each folder

The address changes when you open a folder, so you can bookmark it or send it to a teammate.

Virtual folders

The calendar never sees your folders

Events Manager folders FAQ

Why does my folder of past events look empty?
Events Manager shows future events by default. Pick “Past events” or “All events” in its date filter and the past events in that folder appear.
Do folders change my events, bookings or URLs?
No. Folders live in wp-admin only. Event pages, their addresses, bookings and the calendar stay as they are.
Can visitors see the folders?
No. Folders are not event categories or tags. They have no pages and never appear in the calendar.
Can I archive past events without deleting them?
Yes. Put them in a folder. They stay published, and you open the folder only when you need them.
Do locations get folders?
Yes. Locations are their own list under Events and get their own folder tree.
Is this in Plathix Free?
No. Content folders are part of Plathix PRO. Free organizes the Media Library.
