Folders for JetEngine post types
JetEngine sites are built on data: vehicles, properties, members, directory entries. The site shows them in listings. In wp-admin they are one list that only grows.
Plathix PRO adds private folders to the list of each post type you create with JetEngine. Group items by stock, office or task and open just the folder you need. Fields, relations and listings stay as they are.
Filters find data. Folders hold the work.
JetEngine lets you add columns and filters to a post type’s list. They find items by their fields and terms: price, year, fuel type.
Some groups are not data. Which cars still need photos, which arrived today, which were sold last month and wait to be unpublished. Teams keep these in their heads or in a spreadsheet next to WordPress.
Folders put those groups next to the list, without a new field or taxonomy in your post type.
Hundreds of entries, one long scroll
People who build data sites with JetEngine describe the same moment. Every entry is in the list. The right one is hard to reach.
You keep scrolling until you find the right entry. Looking for one thing among a hundred entries is boring, and sometimes you still do not find it.
One post type holds more than 1,500 entries. Sorting by a field helps only for the few hundred that have a value.
A new post type gets its own taxonomy, and the very next wish is to filter the admin list by it.
Folders add a private tree next to the list. Your JetEngine columns and filters stay, and fields, relations and listings stay as they are.
Folders that match how a data-driven site works
By stock
In stock, arriving, reserved: see one stage of the stock without building a filter for it.
Photos and content to do
Entries that still need photos, a description or a price check, in one place for the person who does them.
By office or agent
Each branch or agent opens their own folder of entries instead of the whole list.
Sold, kept for records
Old entries stay as they are and move out of the daily list.
One folder tree for each JetEngine post type
One tree per post type
Each post type you create in JetEngine gets a separate tree, if its slug has 17 characters or fewer. Turn it on in Settings → General → Enabled Sections.
Your columns and filters stay
The admin columns and filters you set up in JetEngine stay on the list. The Folder column is added next to them.
Listing templates too
JetEngine keeps its listing items in a normal WordPress list as well, so they can get a tree of their own.
Meta in a custom table
A post type that stores its meta fields in a custom table still keeps its posts in the normal list, so it can get folders.
JetEngine never sees your folders
| What you do | What changes | What stays as it is |
|---|---|---|
| Put a vehicle in a folder | Its Plathix folder | Its meta fields, terms, relations and URL |
| Edit fields or relations | The vehicle’s data in JetEngine | Its folder |
| Rename or move a folder | The folder tree in wp-admin | Listings, queries and pages on the site |
| Trash a vehicle, then restore it | Its Trash state | Its folder: it comes back to the same place |
| Turn Plathix PRO off | The list looks like plain WordPress | Your folders wait in the database and come back |
Folders have no URLs and no archive pages. They never appear on the site.
How we test JetEngine post types
We run each check on a live site with Plathix PRO and the current JetEngine version, on a post type with meta fields, admin columns and admin filters.
Status Planned
Results go to Plathix Lab. Each row turns into a link once it has run.
| Check | What we verify | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Enable a JetEngine post type | The type appears in Enabled Sections; the panel appears on its list. | Planned |
| Admin columns and filters | A folder together with the JetEngine admin filters; the columns stay. | Planned |
| Custom meta storage | A post type with meta in a custom table gets folders. | Planned |
| Listing items | Folders on the Listings/Components list. | Planned |
| Trash and restore | A trashed item comes back to its folder. | Planned |
