Folders for Simple Calendar calendars

In Simple Calendar every calendar is a small setup: a Google Calendar or ICS feed, a grid or list view, and a shortcode on some page. A school, club or agency soon has dozens of them, many with almost the same name.

Plathix PRO adds private folders to the Calendars list. Group calendars by team, room or client, and open just the folder you need. The calendars, their shortcodes and the pages that show them stay as they are.

Forty calendars with almost the same name

Each Simple Calendar calendar is one setup: a feed, a view and a shortcode. Want the same feed as a grid on one page and as a list on another? That is two calendars. Clone one, and the copy gets “(Copy)” at the end of its name.

The list shows the source, the calendar type and the shortcode of each calendar. It does not show which team, room or client a calendar is for.

In people’s words

A calendar for each team, and one more to group them

Sites that use Simple Calendar rarely stop at one calendar. Each sport, team or member gets its own, and a grouped calendar sits on top.

A sports complex with a separate calendar for softball, one for golf and one for special events. Then a grouped calendar that combines them all.

One grouped calendar that pulls in twelve calendars.

A trust whose members are trusts too. Each member has its own events calendar, and the site should show them combined.

One calendar works. Then a second one is needed, and a grouped calendar to show both.

Folders keep those calendars apart in wp-admin, by team, place or client. What each grouped calendar shows does not change.

Folders that match how your calendars are used

By team or group

One folder per team, class or department, with its games, training and meetings.

By room or place

Halls, rooms, courts: find the calendar for one place without reading every name.

By client

If you keep calendars for several clients, give each client a folder.

Grouped calendars apart

Keep the Grouped Calendar setups in their own folder, away from the single feeds they combine.

Old feeds

A feed from last season or an old account goes to “Old feeds” instead of being deleted, with all its settings.

What you get

A folder tree for your calendars

A folder panel on All Calendars

The panel sits beside the Simple Calendar list of calendars. Click a folder and the list shows only its calendars.

A Folder column

Every row shows its folder; click it to open that folder.

Events you add in WordPress

Since version 4.3, Simple Calendar can also keep its own events in WordPress. They have a separate Events list, which can get its own folder tree.

A link for each folder

The address changes when you open a folder, so you can bookmark it or send it to a teammate.

Virtual folders

Simple Calendar never sees your folders

Simple Calendar folders FAQ

Do folders change my calendars or shortcodes?
No. Folders live in wp-admin only. Feeds, views, shortcodes and the pages that show them stay as they are.
Do Google Calendar events get folders?
No. Simple Calendar reads those events from the feed; they are not posts in WordPress. Folders sort the calendars that show them.
Is a folder the same as a calendar category?
No. A Grouped Calendar can use categories to pick calendars. Folders are only for your own order in wp-admin.
What about events I create in Simple Calendar?
In version 4.3 and later they have their own Events list, with its own folder tree.
Can visitors see the folders?
No. Folders have no URLs and never appear on your pages.
Is this in Plathix Free?
No. Content folders are part of Plathix PRO. Free organizes the Media Library.
