Import from Wicked Folders

Plathix can rebuild a Wicked Folders media tree as Plathix folders and put the same files into them. Wicked Folders keeps its media folders in the WordPress database, and Plathix reads them from there directly. This page lists what is specific to Wicked Folders; the general procedure is on Import folders from another plugin.

When you need this

• You used Wicked Folders for the Media Library and are moving to Plathix.
• You want to know which Wicked Folders data comes along and which does not.

How to import from Wicked Folders

1. Back up the database.
2. Go to Plathix → Tools, card Import from Other Plugins.
3. On the Wicked Folders tile, check that the status is “✓ Detected”.
   

4. Click Import from Wicked Folders.
5. Wait for “Import completed. Moved items: N”.

What Plathix reads: the Wicked Folders media folder list, with each folder’s name and parent folder, and which file is in which folder, in the order the database returns them. The plugin can be deactivated. Plathix detects Wicked Folders when at least one Wicked Folders media folder is in the database.

How to check the Wicked Folders result

1. Open Media → Library.
2. Compare the tree with the Wicked Folders media tree.
3. Check files that were in more than one folder.

Example

Suppose the Wicked Folders media tree has Editorial › Featured Images and Brand › Logos, and the site also has Wicked folders for pages. After the import, Editorial › Featured Images and Brand › Logos would be in the Plathix Media Library tree. The page folders would not be imported.

Limits

• Only Media Library folders are imported. Folders Wicked Folders keeps for posts, pages or other post types are not read.
• The import reads only folder names, parents and file assignments. Nothing else from Wicked Folders is imported, including folder order and settings.
• A folder whose parent folder is missing becomes a top-level folder.
• A file in several folders ends up in one Plathix folder. A subfolder wins over its parent. Between unrelated folders, the one later in database order wins, and a folder that waits for its parent comes last.
• Files that are already in a Plathix folder are moved to the imported folder.
• Run each import once. After a reload the tile shows “✓ Imported” and its button is turned off, once at least one file has been moved.
• The command wp plathix import start --adapter=wickedfolders needs PRO, active with a valid license. Use the PRO version released for your Plathix version.

In short

Plathix reads the Wicked Folders media folder data directly, so Wicked Folders can be inactive. Media folder names, nesting and file assignments carry over. Folders for posts and pages, folder order and settings do not.
