Plathix can rebuild a HappyFiles folder tree as Plathix folders and put the same files into them. HappyFiles keeps its media folders in the WordPress database, and Plathix reads them from there directly. This page lists what is specific to HappyFiles; the general procedure is on Import folders from another plugin.
When you need this
- A WooCommerce store kept product photos in HappyFiles folders and is switching to Plathix.
- A site builder used HappyFiles on a client site and now standardises on Plathix.
How to import from HappyFiles
- Back up the database.
- Go to Plathix → Tools, card Import from Other Plugins.
- On the HappyFiles tile, check that the status is “✓ Detected”.
- Click Import from HappyFiles.
- Wait for “Import completed. Moved items: N”.
What Plathix reads: the HappyFiles media folder list, with each folder’s name and parent folder, and which file is in which folder. HappyFiles can be deactivated; only its data must still be in the database. Plathix detects HappyFiles when at least one HappyFiles media folder is in the database.
How to check the HappyFiles result
- Open Media → Library.
- Compare the tree with HappyFiles. Plathix sorts the folders by the ID of their parent folder, then by their own folder ID. A folder whose parent has not been created yet waits for the next pass, so every parent exists before its subfolders.
- Check the order. Folders at the same level follow their HappyFiles folder ID, which usually means the order they were created in. They are placed after any folders that already existed at that level.
- Check files that were in more than one HappyFiles folder.
Example
Suppose summer-campaign.png is in two HappyFiles folders: Editorial › Featured Images and Infographics. After the import it would be only in Editorial › Featured Images. Infographics is a top-level folder, so it is handled before any subfolder, and the later assignment wins.
Limits
- Plathix reads only folder names, parents and file assignments. Colors and HappyFiles settings do not carry over.
- Only the HappyFiles media folder list is read. HappyFiles data stored anywhere else is not imported.
- A file in several HappyFiles folders ends up in one Plathix folder. A subfolder wins over its parent. Between unrelated folders, the one handled later wins. Folders are handled sorted by the ID of their parent folder, then by their own folder ID, and a folder that waits for its parent comes last.
- Files that are already in a Plathix folder are moved to the imported folder.
- Run each import once. After a reload the tile shows “✓ Imported” and its button is turned off, once at least one file has been moved.
- The command
wp plathix import start --adapter=happyfilesneeds PRO, active with a valid license. Use the PRO version released for your Plathix version.
In short
Plathix reads the HappyFiles folder data directly, so HappyFiles can be inactive. Names, nesting and file assignments carry over. Folders are created in HappyFiles folder ID order. A file that sat in several folders lands in one.
