Import from WP Media Folder

Free
Edition: Free and PRO (the import is Free; PRO adds wp plathix import start --adapter=wpmediafolder) · Compatibility: WP Media Folder

Plathix can rebuild a WP Media Folder (JoomUnited) tree as Plathix folders and put the same files into them. WP Media Folder keeps its folders in the WordPress database, and Plathix reads them from there directly. This page lists what is specific to WP Media Folder; the general procedure is on Import folders from another plugin.

When you need this

  • You move a site from WP Media Folder to Plathix and want the same top-level folders.
  • You inherited a site where WP Media Folder was installed once, and you want to know whether there is anything to import.

How to import from WP Media Folder

  1. Back up the database.
  2. Go to Plathix → Tools, card Import from Other Plugins.
  3. On the WP Media Folder tile, check that the status is “✓ Detected”.
  4. Click Import from WP Media Folder.
  5. Wait for “Import completed. Moved items: N”.

What Plathix reads: the WP Media Folder folder list, with each folder’s name and parent folder, and which file is in which folder, in the order the database returns them. The plugin can be deactivated.

Plathix detects WP Media Folder when at least one WP Media Folder folder is in the database. The plugin’s own root folder counts, so the tile can show “✓ Detected” with no real folders. The import then ends with 0 moved items, and the tile shows “✓ Imported” after a reload.

How to check the WP Media Folder result

  1. Open Media → Library.
  2. Check the top level. The plugin’s root container is skipped and does not appear as an extra folder. Its subfolders are top-level folders in Plathix.
  3. Compare the rest of the tree with WP Media Folder.
  4. Check files that were in more than one folder.

Example

Suppose WP Media Folder shows Editorial, Videos and Brand under its root container. After the import, Editorial, Videos and Brand would be top-level Plathix folders, and there would be no folder for the root container.

Limits

  • Every WP Media Folder folder, except the root container, is imported as a plain folder.
  • Folder colors, manual order and WP Media Folder settings do not carry over.
  • A folder whose parent folder is missing becomes a top-level folder.
  • A file in several folders ends up in one Plathix folder. A subfolder wins over its parent. Between unrelated folders, the one later in database order wins, and a folder that waits for its parent comes last.
  • Files that are already in a Plathix folder are moved to the imported folder.
  • Run each import once. After a reload the tile shows “✓ Imported” and its button is turned off, once at least one file has been moved, or when the root container was the only folder.
  • The command wp plathix import start --adapter=wpmediafolder needs PRO, active with a valid license. Use the PRO version released for your Plathix version.

In short

Plathix reads the WP Media Folder folder data directly, so WP Media Folder can be inactive. The root container is skipped and its subfolders become top-level folders. A tile can say “✓ Detected” even when only the root container exists.
