Folders for events and venues
Years of published events can leave 1,000+ past and upcoming entries in the same admin list.
Plathix PRO adds private folders to your events list. Group them by year, venue, program, client, or archive while keeping the events published. The calendar, the event pages and their addresses stay as they are.
Delete them, hide them, or keep scrolling
Every events site reaches the same point: the list of past events grows longer than the list of upcoming ones.
Deleting old events removes the history people still look up. Unpublishing breaks their links. An “Archive” category gets a public page. And some event lists have few filters, so you scroll.
A folder gives past events somewhere to go. They stay published, and you open them only when you need them.
Folders that match how an events team works
Past events by year
File last year’s events under “Past 2025”. They stay published with their links.
By season or program
Spring season, Summer camp, Annual program: one program’s events together while you plan it.
By venue, for your team
Main hall, Garden, Online. A private group for planning; the venue set on each event does not change.
By client or organizer
For agencies and venues that run events for others: one folder per client or partner.
Events you repeat
Keep last year’s best events in “To repeat” as a starting point for next season.
Works with calendars that use the normal WordPress list
Each calendar page explains which lists get folders: events, and in some calendars venues, organizers or performers too.
Calendars and booking apps that replace the WordPress list with their own screen need separate support.
The calendar never sees your folders
| What you do | What changes | What stays as it is |
|---|---|---|
| Put an event in a folder | Its Plathix folder | Date, venue, tickets, categories, URL, status |
| Move last year’s events to “Past 2025” | The folder tree in wp-admin | The calendar, event pages, search results |
| Rename or move a folder | The folder tree | Every page on the site |
| Trash an event, then restore it | Its Trash state | Its folder |
| Turn Plathix PRO off | The lists look like plain WordPress | Your folders wait in the database and come back |
Folders have no URLs, never appear in the calendar and are not event categories.
How we test Content Folders for events
We run each check on a live site with Plathix PRO and a calendar plugin, on the real event screens.
Status 4 of 6 passed
Passed checks link to their results in Plathix Lab. The others are in progress.
| Check | What we verify | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Enable a type | Turn on Posts, Pages, Products, Events or Courses: the folder panel appears on each list. | Passed |
| An image inside an event | Move the image used in an event page to another media folder: the event page still shows it. | Passed |
| Quick Edit | Change a folder from Quick Edit and confirm the assignment saves. | Passed |
| PRO off and on | Deactivate PRO, then reactivate it. Folder structure and assignments return. | Passed |
| Past events archive | Events in a “Past” folder stay published and keep their links. | In progress |
| Trash and restore an item | Trash a post or product and restore it: it is back in its folder. | In progress |
